Fran Bolívar

I'm a Software Engineer currently working as Technical Lead in nazaríes intelligenia from Granada (Spain). I enjoy working with Ruby on Rails, but I have experience in other languages and technologies. I'm passionate about standards and good practices, that's why a framework like Rails suits me perfectly. I'm always trying to improve everything I'm working on and looking for new challenges I can learn with.

Experience

Technical Lead

nazaríes intelligenia
January 2021 - Present

I combine my role as a developer in more complex projects with a managerial role. I'm currently working on a Ruby on Rails open-source platform for citizen participation implemented by many public organizations. I'm also the main responsible for the Software Department in the IoT platform, so I manage a small team and I take care of every solution we develop is taking us in the right direction.

Software Engineer

nazaríes intelligenia
August 2017 - December 2020

Starting as a junior, after a successful stage during my internship, I developed myself until being considered a senior and one of the key pieces in the team. I have been a developer on several projects with both national and international clients. Although the main project I've been working on is an IoT platform with a tech stack based on Ruby on Rails, I've also been working on other projects with Ruby on Rails and other diverse technologies: such as a desktop application with C++ to control UAVs, a pure back-end project with Spring, various hybrid mobile applications using Ionic, a customized e-commerce platform with PHP or an important telemedicine platform with PHP too.

Internship Student

June 2017 - July 2017

Internship corresponding to the M.Sc. in Computer Science I studied. I started learning and working with Ruby on Rails.

Scholarship Assistant

Working on an investigation project for studying and developing algorithms to view and document wood sculptures, and in the Atalaya3D project, processing 3D models to be uploaded to the web.

Interests

🥗 It may sound a bit stupid but, as I love to eat, I love to cook. I've got a blog where I upload some of the recipes I discover. You can find there anything: from a simple alioli to Venezuelan arepas. Currently, I try to cook as healthily as possible but don't worry if you like sweets, you can find some cookies too.

🎸 I enjoy listening to music. I usually listen to songwriters, but I like rock music and some classics too. I also play the guitar as an amateur but don't expect me to play the most difficult guitar solo, I just know how to make the guitar sound and play some easy songs.

🏔️ I love nature. Maybe not as much as Pocahontas, but I enjoy hiking, exploring new places, and taking photos of some astonishing landscapes.

🔭 When I was a child, I was the rare kid who wanted to be an astronaut instead of a football player. I've always looked up at the stars and I love a dark sky full of stars.

👾 As dictated by the Software Engineer cliché, I like video games too. I'm not the typical guy who plays LoL or Valorant as I prefer offline to online games. I love some of the most famous Nintendo sagas: Super Mario, Zelda, and especially Pokémon which played a significant role during my childhood.
